Robert Meyer Services Held Friday at Zion

Robert D Meyer, the son of Robert and Alvina (nee Both) Meyer, was born December 29. 1890 in O'Brien County, Iowa, He was baptized in the Christian faith by Pastor Zuerrer at St. John's Lutheran Church of Germantown, Iowa, on January 19, 1891 and was confirmed in the Christian faith here at Zion on December 29 1919 by Pastor A. H. Semmann. He was educated in the rural schools of this area.

On January 14, 1915, he was united in marriage to Emily Schuknecht. God blessed this union with three children. Mr. and Mrs. Meyer farmed southwest of Paullina for many years and moved to Paullina about ten years ago.

In December of 1944, their life was saddened by the loss of their beloved son, Edwin, who was killed in the armed forces during the battle for Leyte.

In 1962, Mrs. Meyer passed away and Mr. Meyer continued to live in Paullina.

About four weeks ago Mr. Meyer went to live with his daughter Ruby. It was at her home that the Lord suddenly called him to his eternal rest at the age of 78 years, 22 months and 10 days on December 9th.

He leaves to mourn his passing his children, Ruby, Mrs. Bently Puhrmann of Paullina, and his son Vernelle of Plainview, Texas. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Also his three sisters: Mrs. Ann Hoger, Mrs. Kate Fiddelke and Mrs. Alice Carlson of Paullina; and two brothers, Fred of Paullina and Roy of Spencer.
