MRS. CAROLINE WREDE

Caroline Egdorf Wrede was born In Bedke, Pommeramia, Germany October 31, 1861. In the land of her birth she was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church In 1876 at the age of 15 years she came to America with her parents who settled for a time at Monee, Ill., near Chicago, Ill.

On April 21, 1881 she was married to Mr. Chris Wrede in Chicago by Pastor Wunder. They came west in 1883 and settled on a farm in Caledonia township where they resided continually until 1914 at which time they retired from farm life and moved to Paullina which has since been her home.
Nine years ago Mr and Mrs. Wrede celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary, two years later on November 19, 1933, Mr Wrede died.

Mrs. Wrede was the mother of 10 children. 3 sons and 7 daughters. One son, Henry died at the age of 11 months and one daughter, Emma died at the age of 24 years.

She is survived by 2 sons and 6 daughters, 16 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. The children are: Anna, Mrs. Fred Seeman of Joliet, Ill. Sophia, Mrs. F C. Seemann of Paullina, Mathilda, of Paullina, Martha, Mrs. Ed. Lange of Cleghorn. Millie, Mrs. Gus Hohenstein of Los Angeles, Calif., Mabel, Mrs. Martin Dornbusch of Paullina and Herman and Wm. Wrede of Alta.

Mrs. Wrede passed away Sunday at 7 o'clock, July 21, 1940 at the age of 78 years, 8 months, 20 days. While she was able she attended church faithfully, when she could not come she appreciated such ministrations of the ministry as could be given her at home. She was a kind and loving mother and will be greatly missed by her family.

Relatives and friends who attended the services from a distance are Mr and Mrs. Fred Seeman, and Mr and Mrs. Ray Seeman of Joliet. Ill.; Mr and Mrs. Adolph Koenig and Lesley and Phylis of Frankfort, Ill.; Mrs. EInora Stark of Chicago, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Wrede and Wayne of Alta; Mr and Mrs. Wm. Wrede, Cordelia and Marlin and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lietz of Alta; Mr Art Wogahn and Fred Wogahn of Aurclia; Mrs. Emma Schmeckpepper of Galva, Mr and Mrs. Wm. Huseman, Louis Huseman, Martin Huseman and Beverly, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Kolpin of Alta; Mr. Albert Huseman of Storm Lake.
