1890 • ALVINA BROOCKS • 1964

Alvina Broocks, daughter of Fred and Mina (Grugel) Kuhlman, was born Feb. 19, 1890, in Caledonia township, O'Brien county. She attended rural schools in this area. On Feb. 26, 1905, she was confirmed at the Lutheran church in Remsen.

She was married to Emil Broocks on Jan. 23, 1914 They were the parents of four children.

On Tuesday morning, Jan. 7, she suddenly passed away at the family home at the age of 73 years, 10 months, and 18 days.

She is survivied by her husband, Emil, two sons, Leo and Leonard of Paullina, and four grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents and two infant daughters.

She is also survived by two brothers, Louis Kuhlmann of Ruthton, Minn., Edward Kuhlmann of Kettle, Minn., and three sisters, Ida Huhnstock of Redwood City, Calif., Clara Rasmussen and Elisabeth Kuhlmann of Santa Rosa, Calif.

Except for a few years spent in Minnesota as a young lady, the deceased lived in this area her entire life. Mr. and Mrs. Broocks farmed south of Germantown for 45 years.

Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 10, at St. John's Lutheran Church, with Rev. H. C. Bentrup officiating. Pallbearers were E. W. Hattermann, Orville I Tesch, Lorenz Meyer, Ronald ! Beermann, Leslie Dau, and Edward Beermann. Gaudian Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
