Emil Broocks, Lifetime Resident Dies; Services Held April 8

Funeral services were held at St. John's Lutheran Church, Germantown, Saturday at 2:00 for Emil Broocks, a lifetime resident of this community who died April 6 at Sioux Valley hospital, Cherokee.

The Rev. Gene Richter was in charge of the service. Gaudian Funeral Home was In charge of arrangements. Burial was in St. John Cemetery.

Emil John Broocks was born June 12, 1892, a son of H. C. Broocks and Anna nee Heins Broocks in Caledonia Township, O'Brien County, Iowa. He died April 6, 1967, at Sioux Valley hospital, Cherokee, Iowa at the age of 74 years, 9 months and 24 days.

He had been in failing health for two years. The deceased spent his entire life in this community.

Emil Broocks was married to Alvina Kuhlman of Holland, Minn., on Jan. 23, 1914. To them were born two daughters and two sons. The two daughters, Anna and Clara, died in infancy Surviving are two sons, Leo and Leonard Broocks, Paullina, and a sister, Emma Knicker of Hartley, four grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.
