Johann Dietrich "John D" Brockmann (1871-1948)

John D, Brockmann, 77, a resident of this community for 40 years, died Thursday at Sheldon, where, with his wife, he has made his home the past ten years.

Services were held Sunday afternoon at the Edgar Brockmann home at 1:30 and at St John church, Germantown, at 2 o'clock. Rev H. L. Daib, pastor of St. John church, Sanborn, was in charge of the services. Mr. Brockmann was a member of St. John Lutheran church at Germantown for almost the entire 40 years that he farmed in this vicinity. Upon his retirement the Brockmann's moved to Sheldon and became members of St. John church at Sanborn.

John Dietrich Brockmann was born at Tinley Park, Ill., June 17, 1871. He was baptized in the Lutheran church at Tinley Park. As a boy he came to this community with his parents and received his education here.

He was married to Sophia Goehrs in 1898. To them were born six children. Mrs. Brockmann died in 1918.

In 1938 he was married to Lillian Onash.

Mr. Brockmann is survived by his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Earnest Hoermann, Arnolds Park and Mrs. Arthur Holtorff, Chicago; two sons, Edgar and Erwin of Paullina and eleven grandchildren.

One son, John, died in 1919 and a daughter, Lydia in 1940.
