Influenza has claimed another victim in this community, when death came to Mrs. J.D. Brockmann last Friday at her farm home near Germantown.

Sophia Catherina Dorothea Sarah, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Goehrs, was born January 23, 1878 in Illinois. In 1891 she came with her parents to Arcadia, Iowa, where she was confirmed in the Lutheran church by Rev. Herrmann.

Later she came to Caledonia township, where she was married on Mar. 6, 1898, to John Dietrich Brockmann and made her home on a farm one and a half miles north of Germantown.

She died after one weeks illness of influenza at 2:30 AM on Dec 6th, at the age of forty years, ten months and thirteen days. A private funeral was held at the family home on Sunday afternoon at two o'clock and at the Germantown cemetery, conducted by Rev. F.W. Potratz.

Mrs. Brockmann left to mourn her loss, besides her husband, three sons, three daughters, two brothers, one sister and other relatives.
