Verna A. Kruse
Verna Amelia Kruse, the daughter of Ernest and Gertrude (Linnekugel) Richter, was born August 19, 1908 in Germantown, Iowa. She received her education at St. John's Lutheran School in Germantown.
On February 24, 1928, she was united in marriage to Truman Kruse at St. John's Lutheran Church in Germantown. After their marriage the couple farmed in O'Brien County for many years until 1979, when they moved into Paullina. Her husband preceded her in death on May 31, 1986 in Primghar.
Verna remained in the family home until entering the Heartland Care Center in Marcus, Iowa in March of 2003. She passed away at the care center on Monday, May 17, 2004, reaching the age of 95 years, 8 months and 28 days. She was baptized on August 30, 1908 and later confirmed on March 25, 1925 and was a life long member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Germantown. She was also a member of St. John's Ladies Aid and enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.
Verna leaves to cherish her memory two sons and their wives, Ronald and Doris Kruse of Paullina and James and Tyler; three great-granddaughters, Olivia, Kiersten and Karn; one sister, Mrs. Mabel Daniels of Moorhead, Minnesota; also other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant daughter, Grace Joann; her parents; two brothers, Walter and Ray , one sister, Anna and a twin brother and sister, Albert and Ella in infancy.
