Mardelle Hansen, the daughter of Henry and Lena Muckler Witte, was bom May 26, 1915 in Paullina, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Paullina, where she received her early education, graduating from Paullina High School.
Mardelle married Ralph "Mike" Hansen on July 15, 1934 in Sioux City, Iowa. During their married life, they owned and operated Hansen's Market in Peterson for 23 years. She was a member of the Congregational Church in Peterson.
Mrs. Hansen passed away at her home in Peterson on Monday, February 7, 1994 at the age of 78. she was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, "Mike" on December 1, 1976; one daughter, Barbara in 1993 and one sister, Florence.
She is survived by one daughter and her husband, Deanie and George Lord of Phoenix AZ; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Irvin Witte and wife of Laurens, LA; two sisters: Helen Anderson of Chicago, IL and Eleanor Raveling and husband of Storm Lake, IA; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services for Mardelle Hansen were held Friday, February 11, 1994 at the First Congregational Church in Peterson, Iowa. Clergy was Pastor Don Jones. Organist was Elsie Mae Brown. Soloist was Mary Alice Plagman. Hymns were: "One Day At A Time" and "Nearer My God To Thee". Interment was at Prairie View Cemetery at Paullina, Iowa. Arrangements were by Warner-Baumgarten Funeral Home of Peterson.
