RALPH (MIKE) HANSEN
Ralph "Mike" Hansen, the son of Henry and Margaretha Pepper Hansen, was born on May 9, 1914 near Paullina in O'Brien County, Iowa. He was educated in schools near his childhood home.
He was united in marriage at Sioux City, Iowa on July 15, 1934 to Mardelle Witte. They lived in Paullina. until moving, to Peterson in 1939. Mike worked as a meat cutter, for Lee Gilbert in the store in Peterson for 13 years and then purchased it. He and Mardelle owned and operated Hansen's Market in Peterson for 23 years.
He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Peterson and had served as a Deacon. He was also a member of the Peterson Lion's Club and the Commercial Club.
He passed away at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville, Iowa on Dec. 1, 1976 at the age of 62, after a lengthy illness. Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers and one, sister. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. R. H. (Barbara) Turtle of Salinas, California and Waldene Van Der Sloot of Spencer, Ia.; five grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Ema Hamilton of Hartley and Mrs. Gilbert (Margaret) Smith of Spirit Lake, Ia. as well as other relatives and his many friends.

Funeral Services were.held on Saturday. Dec. 4, at l:30pm from the First Congregational Church, of Peterson, for Ralph "Mike" Hansen. Rev. F. Eugene White was the officiating clergyman. Mrs. Melvin Fastenow was the organist and accompanied Mrs. Charles Plagman as she sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Nearer My God to Thee". Casket bearers were: Kevin Raveling, Randall Raveling, odney Snyder, Kevin Schmitt, Carl Brenner and Alvin Johnson. Mrs. Robert Garrett and Mrs. Meta Brandt were in charge of the flowers. Burial was made at the Prairie View Cemetery at Paullina, Iowa. The Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
