SEVERT L. TOWE

Severt L. Towe was born at Towe, Norway, Europe, February 6, 1849. He passed away at the home of his daughter February 13, 1942, at the age of 93 years and 7 days.

Mr Towe was one of a family of nine children, the son of Lars and Sarah Towe. He was baptized and confirmed In the Norwegian Lutheran Church at Strand, Norway in 1863.

In 1871 he left the port of Stavangcr, Norway to sail for America arriving In Benton County, Iowa July 3, of the same year.

On March 14, 1882 he was united in marriage to Bertha Maria Groden at Vinton. Iowa. To this union were born seven children, five daughters and two sons, four of whom survive. His wife, infant daughter Mae, Laura, and Edith Towe preceded him in death.

From April 3, 1884 until 1925 he resided on his farm northeast of Paullina. Since 1925 he has resided at the home of his daughter Mrs. Jennie Boyce. Mr. Towe leaves to mourn his passing four children. Severn, Jennie Boyce, Spencer, and Mildred Hodgdon, two brothers, and seven grandchildren.

Rev J M. Howdeshell conducted funeral services at the Boyce home Monday afternoon In the midst of a large concourse of relatives and friends after which the body was laid to rest in the Prairie View cemetery.

Relatives and friends from out of town to attend the services were: Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Quirk of Sioux Falls, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Ben Gedstead of Lennox, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. O. H. Wright of Elk Point S, D.; Mrs. Grace Cleveland and Mrs. Alvina Omer of Ocheyedan; Mr. and Mrs. Lars Berschelm of Hartley; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Irvine and Mr. and Mrs. Sid Thompson of Primghar and Pearl Lorraine Boycc of Des Moines.
