Mildred Hodgdon Services Held July 15

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 15 at 10:30 a.m. for Mildred Hodgdon, at the First Presbyterian Church, Paullina, with Rev. Carl Soderberg officiating. Pallbearers were Ronald Cullison, Ed Brown, Jeff Halstrom, Jerry Cullison, Roy Ewoldt and Don Wittrock. "How Great Thou Art" and "Old Rugged Cross" were sung by Otis Grosvenor, accompanied by Mrs. Kay Grosvenor. Final resting place was Prairie View Cemetery, Paullina under the care of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.

Mildred Hodgdon, daughter of Severt L. and Maria Grodam Towe, was born July 2, 1894 in Paullina. She attended Paullina schools graduating in 1911 from Paullina high school. She then attended Cedar Falls Teachers College and later taught school in rural Paullina and in Linn Grove areas.

She was united in marriage to George Hodgdon on Sept. 6. 1919 in Paullina. After their marriage the couple farmed south of Paullina for many years before retiring and moving into Paullina in 1944. George preceded her in death on Jan. 7, 1971 in Primghar. Mildred continued to live in Paullina until passing away on Monday, July 12, 1982 at the age of 88 years and 10 days.

Mildred was a long time active member of the Methodist Church of Paullina and later became a member of the Presbyterian Church in Paullina. She was also a member of the PEO Sisterhood. Mildred is survived by nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters and two brothers.
