Obituary of Mrs. Sarah Mann

Sarah Grace Williams was born
May 6, 1861, near Hazelgreen, Wis.
and died July 20, 1943 at her home at
1607 North Grand,, in Spencer,
Iowa, after a three weeks illness.
Death was caused by cerebral
hemorrhage.

Of English parentage, her father
and mother, John and Susan
Williams came to this country in
1848 from Cornwall, England.

On March 8, 1883, she was married
to Thomas E. Mann of Apple
River, Ill., and came to the Mann
farm northeast of Sutherland on
her wedding trip. There they lived
until 1921, when they moved to
Spencer where she has since lived.

To this union were born eight
children, three of whom survive
They are Mrs. Carl Barry and
Clyde Mann of Sutherland and,
Russell Mann of Spencer.

Mrs. Mann was baptized and
taken into the Methodist church
as a young girl, and continued a
devout Christian the rest of her
life.

In addition to the three children,
Mrs. Mann is survived by
two brothers, Grant Williams of
Toronto, Canada, and Alfred Williams
of Hazelgreen, Wis.; a sister
Mrs. Mary Brown of Los Angeles,
Calif.; five grandchildren, Roger
and Don Barry of Sutherland, Cpl.
Thomas E. Barry of Santa Rosa,
Calif., Nancy Ann and Thomas R.
Mann of Spencer, and two great
grandchildren.

Funeral services were held July
23 at the Grace Methodist" church
at Spencer where she had been a
member since moving to Spencer
in 1921. Rev. F. Earl Burgess conducted
the service. Pallbearers
were J. W. Peterson, H. B. Brenizer,
Earl Moore, Tobias Erion,
John McTigue and H. L. Bandfield,
all neighbors and family
friends. Interment was in Waterman
cemetery at Sutherland
