Services Held For George Puhrmann
George M. Puhrmann, Jr., 72, passed away suddenly Friday Nov. 17 at 10:00 a.m. at his home in Larrabee, due to a heart condition. He lived in Larrabee for the past 21 years. Prior to this, he had lived on a farm in Cedar township.
He was born August 6,1906 at Paullina and was married to Josephine Durmich Sept. 15, 1927 at Paullina. He farmed in Paullina, Larrabee and Meriden all his life, retiring in 1956.
George was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee, a former member of the board of directors of the Co-op elevator, Larrabee, consolidated school board, and on the town council for 14 years.Survivors include his wife, Josephine; one son, Major George C. Puhrmann III of Omaha; and two daughters, Mrs. Arnold (Barbara) Carlson of Remsen, and Mrs. DuWayne (Joyce) Pauling of Primghar; 13 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 5 brothers, Bentley, Ray, Martin, Lee, and Ralph, all of Paullina; and 5 sisters, Mrs. Elsie Miller and Mrs. Clarence (Emily) Meyer of Paullina, Mrs. Clifford (June) Miller of Cleghorn, Mrs. Julius (Gladys) Muhs of Hartley, and Mrs. Emmett (Ruth) Buhrow of Leroy, Minn.
Preceding him in death were his parents, 2 brothers in infancy, and one granddaughter.Services for George M. Puhrmann were held Monday, Nov. 20 at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee with pastor Oscar Marquardt officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee under the direction of Boothby Funeral Home. Pallbearers were: Doug Admire, Cal Pauling, Alan Carlson, Kent Pauling, Ken Heidesh and Scott Carlson.
