Services held for Eleonora E. Jalas

Funeral services for Eleonora E Jalas were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 8, 1997, at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Sutherland, Iowa, with Rev. Leroy Riemer officiating. "Abide With Me," "I Know That My Redeemer Lives," "Just As I Am," and "Go My Children With My Blessing" were sung by the congregation with the organist being Mrs. Jan Ebel. The casket bearers were Eric Schettler, Roger Hartley, Ralph Donovan, Scott Meyer, Shawn George and Daryl Daum. Interment was at Waterman Cemetery in Sutherland, Iowa, under the direction of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.

OBITUARY Eleonora Ella Jalas, the daughter of Henry and Ida Richter Koehlmoos, was bom May 31, 1924, in Caledonia Township, O'Brien County, Iowa. She attended St. John's Lutheran School in Germantown.

On December 20, 1943, she was united in marriage to Henry Jalas at St. John's Lutheran Church in Germantown, Iowa. After their marriage, the couple farmed southeast of Sutherland, Iowa, until their retirement in 1975 when they moved into Sutherland. On October 15, 1995, she became a resident of the Millie's Rest Home in Sutherland.

She passed away on Sunday, January 5, 1997, at the Baum-Harmon Hospital in Primghar, reaching the age of 72 years, 7 months and 4 days.

Her husband preceded her in death on October 17, 1996, in Primghar, Iowa.

She was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Sutherland, had taught Sunday School and was a member of the Bethel Helping Hand of the church. She had served as the secretary for the A.A.L. Branch 2452. Her enjoyments were family gatherings, quilting, cooking, camping and playing cards

Eleonora leaves to cherish her memory four daughters and their husbands. Beverly and Lee Radke of Holstein, Karen and Kenneth Meyer of Mitchell, South Dakota, Connie and Jim George of Hartley, Iowa, and Helen and Douglas Schettler of Harrisburg, South Dakota; one son and his wife, Ronald and Pam Jalas of Sutherland, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Burnell Koehlmoos of Paullina, Iowa, and Elwood and Lyle Koehlmoos, both of Granville, Iowa; also a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; five grandchildren; parents and one sister, Luella Daum.
