Services held for Catherine E. Daum

Funeral services for Catherine E. Daum were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 24, 2000, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina, Iowa, with Rev. Karl Eckhoff officiating. "How Great Thou Art," "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" and "The Old Rugged Cross" were sung by the congregation. The organist was Judy Eckhoff. The casket bearers were Walt Schwebach, Galen Vander Pol, Rod Carlson, Larry Schwebach, Mike Thompson and Kevin Campbell.

Interment was at Prairie View Cemetery at Paullina, Iowa, under the direction of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.

OBITUARY

Catherine E. Daum, the daughter of Ted and Elvina Miller Steichen, was born October 30, 1926, in Alton, Iowa. She received her education in country school near Alton.

On March 29, 1946, she was united in marriage to George H. Daum in Dakota City, Nebraska. After their marriage the couple lived in the Paullina and Sutherland area where her husband worked on various farms. The couple moved into Paullina in 1962. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina and the Ladies Aid of the church.

Her husband preceded her in death on April 28, 1991 in Primghar.

Catherine remained in Paullina after his death, and passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2000, at the Orange City Hospital reaching the age of 73 years, 4 months and 21 days.

Catherine leaves to cherish her memory one son, Mike Daum of Paullina and one daughter, Elaine Daum of South Sioux City, Nebraska; a granddaughter and her husband, Michelle and James Hedinger of Paullina; and two greatgrandchildren: Kayla and Mark Hedinger; four sisters: Mrs. Ta Schwebach of Alton, Mrs. Florence Stadie of Carpenterville, Illinois, Mrs. Margie Lundquist of Dundee, Illinois, and Jean and her husband, Orville Behrens of Evansville, Minnesota; two brothers: Robert Steichen of Sanborn, Iowa, and James Steichen of Houston, Texas; also a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and six brothers and sisters.
