George H. Daum

Funeral services for George H. Daum were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, 1991, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina, Iowa, with Rev. Stephen Kamprath officiating. The honorary pallbearers were Ray Witt, Les Frerk, George Hurley and Dareld Johnson. The pallbearers were Kenny Stewart, Leon Schwebach, Larry Feldotto, Larry Schwebach, Burdette Rohde and Ed Hedinger. Rick and Paula Weidaman were in charge of flowers. Military graveside services were conducted by Sutherland Post 152 of the American Legion. The final resting place is Prairie View Cemetery in Paullina, IA, under the care of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.

OBITUARY

George H. Daum, the son of George and Minnie Koehlmoos Daum, was born May 10, 1915, in Pilger, Nebraska. He received his education in Pilger schools. He was then called into service during WW II serving in the Army in Germany.

On March 29, 1946, he was united in marriage to Catherine Steichen in Dakota City, Nebraska. After their marriage, they moved to the Paullina area where he was employed on various farms and later at the Paullina Tile Factory. The last several years before his retirement in 1981, he was employed by Henry Kuiper with the Paullina Rendering Works.

He passed away on Sunday, April 28, 1991, at the Baum-Harmon Hospital in Primghar, reaching the age of 75 years, 11 months and 18 days. He was baptized and later confirmed on March 29, 1931, and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina and Sutherland Post 152 of the American Legion.

George is survived by his wife, Catherine of Paullina; one son, Mike of Paullina; one daughter, Elaine Daum of South Sioux City, Nebraska; one granddaughter and her husband, Michelle and James Hedinger of Paullina; two great grandchildren: Kayla and Mark Hedinger; two brothers: Bill Daum of Calumet and Ed Daum of Pilger, Nebraska;, two sisters: Mrs. Amanda Sedlok, of Wayne, NE and Mrs. Hildegard Dryer of Wiser, NE; also a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Otto and Elmer and one sister, Amelia.
