Nicolaus Clausen, the son of Claus and Katherine Clausen, was born in Kassland, Germany, January 18, 1896, and passed away at his home in Calumet, Iowa, May 27, 1961 at the age of 65 years, 4 months, and 9 days.

As a child he attended school in Germany and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in 1910 in Germany. For 48 years he has resided in O'Brien County, Iowa. Mr. Clausen was a member of the Evangelical and Reformed church and the Calumet Community Club.

On February 28, 1922, he was married to Elsie Peters of Calumet. Preceding him in death were his parents, five brothers, and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Elsie, two sisters, Mrs. Marie Paulsen, Paullina; and Mrs. Cecelia Rehder, Calumet, and a brother, Ben Clausen, of Belle Flower, California and several other relatives.
