The deceased, Mrs. C. F Meyer,
familiarly known as Mother Meyer,
was the daughter of C. Hoermann and
Anna Pauling, born Jan. 16. 1854 in
Cook county, Il. She reached the ripe
age of 77 years 5 months and 13 days.
All her life she was actively connected
with the church, having been baptized
in her infancy by the Rev. Stubnatzy,
and instructed and confirmed by the
Rev. Chr Loeber, both well known and
consecrated ministers In the early history
of our Synod.

April 8, 1877, she was married to
Mr C. F. Meyer and soon after in
1880, she came with her husband from
Illinois to the Germantown community
and lived there 26 years.

In 1906 they moved from the farm into Paullina
and became members of Zion
Lutheran congregation. Both showed a
deep interest in every phase of church
life and activity

They had four children,
three sons and one daughter.
One son, Fred, died in childhood, the
remaining children are: Wm. Meyer,
of Germantown; Albert H. Meyer, of
this place; and Emma, Mrs. W. D.
Engelke, of Sutherland.

There are 16 grandchildren, one
great grandchild, four sisters and one
brother- Mrs. Chas. Neckels, Grosse
Butte, N. D.; Mrs. Wm. Hellmann,
Mrs. Fred Schulz, Wm. Hoermann, and
Mrs. John Ebel, all of Paulllna.

Mrs. Meyer was devoted to her
church. Her place in the public service
was seldom vacant. Though she
strongly and consistently favored the
German language for church service,
nevertheless she also attended the English
services, setting thereby a good
example to the coming generation in
faithful church going.

She showed by her life the
sentiment which the Psalmist
expresses in these words:
"Lord, I have loved the habitation of
thine house and the place where thine
honor dwelleth."

Also in other activities
of the church was she interested
to her end. Twenty-two years she was
a member of the Ladies Aid, being one
of the first to Join; 4 years she was
Vice President and 8 years she was
President of the Ladies Aid.

She departed this life rather suddenly
last Monday evening and was
laid to rest In the Germantown cemetery,
Thursday, July 2. The officiating
pastors were Rev H. Steger, Rev A. H.
Semmann and Rev. J . Hartmeister.

Blessed are the dead which die In
the Lord from henceforth, yea the
Spirit saeth, that they shall rest from
their labors and their works do follow
them.
