James T. Hatch Passes Away

Word has been received here of the death of James T Hatch, or Primghar, which occurred on January 16, 1931, at the age of 69 years, 2 months and 5 days.

Mr. Hatch will be remembered by many in and about Paullina as one who settled here in the early day. At the age of twenty-two in the year of 1884 he came to O'Brien County and filed on a Government claim on section 23 Dale Twosnship, which was later deeded to him by the U.S. Government. He was among the first school teachers in Dale township, having taught No. 7 in Dale in the years of 1885-86-87-88.

It was to the farm north of Paullina that he brough his bride. Angie Noble, in the year of 1891, being united in marriage on March 17th of that year. Two daughters were born to this untion, Mrs. Clarence DeBord, of Primghar, and Mrs. Theo. Swearnigen, of Milford, Nebraska.

At an early age he gave his heart to God, and was a faithful laborer in His vinyard the remainder of his life. He was one of the early members of the First Presbyterian church of Paullina and was always interested in the work of the church and Sunday school.

He is survived by his wife and two daughters, two brothers, two sisters, and two granchildren, and a host of friends. He was a brother of the late Mrs. C.G. Peek, deceased.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Primghar Sunday afternoon and interment was made in the Primghar cemetery. The "Times" extends its heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family and relatives.
