Services held for Alice M. Guthridge

Funeral services for Alice M Guthridge were held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 1996, at the Siloam Lutheran Church in Paullina, Iowa, with Rev Stanley Hansen officiating. "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art" were sung by the congregation. Organist: Mrs Esther Moos. The casket bearers were Roy Gene Stangeland, Norman Laursen. Marvin Hagen, Phil Rupp, Nis Laursen and Eddie Beck. Interment was at Prairie View Cemetery in Paullina, Iowa, under the direction of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.

OBITUARY

Alice Marie Guthridge, the daughter of Mildred Stangeland Buse, was born February 13, 1943, in Pipestone, Minnesota. She received her education in schools in the Archer area and graduated from Primghar High School in 1962.

On June 30, 1962, she was united in marriage to Marvin Guthridge at the Congregational Church in Primghar. After their marriage, the couple settled in the Sutherland area where they began farming.

She was baptized and later confirmed at the Congregational Church in Primghar. She was a member of the Homcmakers Club in Sutherland, and the Saddle Club. She enjoyed her times with her family, husband, Marvin, sons, Joel and Jon; and grandson, Aaron, also riding and caring for her horses.

Alice passed away on Sunday, September 15, 1996, at the Sioux Valley Hospital in Cherokee, reaching the age of 53 years, 7 months and 2 days.

Alice leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Marvin of Sutherland; two sons: Joel and his wife, Carla Guthridge of Lakewood, CO, Jon Guthridge of Sutherland; grandson, Aaron Guthridge; her mother, Mildred Buse of Sutherland; two sisters: Mary and her husband, Jim Wagenaar of Archer and Rhonda and her husband, Larry Spratto of Pickett, WI; one brother, Raymond and his wife, Helen Buse of Brookings, SD; a sister-in-law, Lon Buse of Melvin; also Aunts and Uncles and many nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert.
