Mildred A. Buse

Funeral services for Mildred A. Buse were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday September 1, 2001 at Siloam Lutheran Church, Paullina, Iowa with Rev. Elizabeth Pfeifle Officiating. Music included "It Is Well With My Soul" and "My Tribute" Sung by Terese Richards. Congregational hymns included "How Great Thou Art," "Jesus Savior Pilot Me," and "What a Friend We Have In Jesus." Organist was Steve Berntson. Honorary casket bearers were grandchildren Michelle Smith, Alicia Buse and Melissa Hellmann. Casket bearers were grandchildren Michael Buse, Joel Guthridge, Jon Guthridge, Adam Buse, Joe Henry Vetter III and Amanda Buse. Burial was in Prairie .View Cemetery, Paullina, Iowa. rrangements were under the care of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.

Mildred Alice Buse, the daughter of Andrew and Rosella Stangeland, was born September 24, 1920 in Fargo, North Dakota. She moved to the Archer, Iowa area as a small child and received her education in Archer schools.

On September 26, 1938 she was united in marriage to Earl Buse. After their marriage the couple farmed near Pipestone, Minnesota for three years. They moved to the Primghar, Iowa areas and farmed for 38 years. She had made her home in the Sutherland and Paullina, Iowa area for many years until entering the Prairie View Retirement Home in Sanborn in March of 1998.

She passed away at the Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon reaching the age of 80 years, 11 months and 5 days.

She was a member of the Siloam Lutheran Church in Paullina. She enjoyed quilting, embroidering, canning, cooking and gardening.

Mildred leaves to cherish her memory one son and his wife, Raymond and Helen Buse of Brookings, South Dakota; two daughters and their husbands, Mary and Jim Wagenaar of Archer and Rhonda and Larry Spratto of Pickett, Wisconsin; a son-in-law, Marvin Guthridge of Sutherland and a daughter-in-law Lon Buse Hoffman of Sibley; also nine grandchildren, Michael Buse, Joel and Jon Guthridge, Michelle Smith, Melissa Hellmann, Joe Henry Vetter III, Amanda, Alicia and Adam Buse; five great-grandchildren, Aaron, Lauren, McKenzie, Dakota and Katlynn; also one sister, Lillian Flaugh of Archer, and one brother and his wife, Roy and Marie Stangeland of Archer; also a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Alice Guthridge; a son, Robert Buse; her parents and a great-granddaughter, Hunter Brookfield.
