Henry Kluender, son of Frederick and Louise Kluender was born June 8, 1861 at Schaumburg, Cook County, Illinois. Here he was baptized in the Lutheran church and on March 21, 1875 he made his vow of confirmation. On April 10, 1882 he was united in marriage with Elsia Richter. [sic] Eight children were born to them. Three children preceded their father in death. In 1916 Mr. Kluender came to the vicinity of Germantown, residing on a farm. In 1929 he and Mrs. Kluender made their home with Ernest Stoeckmann.

He observed his golden wedding anniversary in 1932 with his wife who died on March 11 of the following year.

Mr. Kluender died July 22 at the age of 91 years, 1 month and 14 days. He is survived by four daughters: Mrs. Adella Schulz of Ionia, Mo., Mrs. Clara Hattermann of Cherokee, Mrs. Alma Stoeckmann of Paullina, and Mrs. Albertina F. Fiddelke of Denver, Colo. Three brothers, Herman Kluender, Paullina, Fred Kluender, Mora, Minn., Ed Kluender, California, also three sisters, Mrs. Sophie Davis of Sioux City, Mrs. Tillie Gruenhagen of Columbus, Nebr. and Mrs. Clara Riedemann, Paullina; 19 grandchildrena and 40 great grandchildren and many relatives and friends.

The burial service was conducted from St John Lutheran church, Germantown on Thursday at 2 pm by G.B. Eschebacher, pastor. Interment was at St. John Lutheran cemetery.

Pallbearers were Carl Carlson, EldonHatterman of Cherokee, Wayne Hattermann of Cherokee, Raymond Kluender of Sutherland, Howard Kluender of Sioux City and William Lee Coner of Denver, Colo.
