Services for Elisabeth K. Clausen were held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 18, 1988, at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina, Iowa: Rev. Charles Kramer officiated. The pallbearers were Vincent Straub, Randy Reusch, Carl Heldt, Jim Egger, Russel Brockmeier, and Hans Clausen. "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" and "Abide With. Me" were sung by the congregation; and "Lord, Take My Hand and Lead Me" was sung by Fred Bredehoeft. Organist: N.H. Behrens. Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Peters and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Swain were in charge of flowers. The final resting place is Liberty Township Cemetery, Calumet, Iowa, under the direction of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.

OBITUARY

Elisabeth K. Clausen, the daughter of Jens and Elisa Thiesen Nissen, was bom January 27, 1901, in Winnert, Schleswig Holstein, Germany. She was baptized in February of 1901 and later confirmed on March 28, 1914, in Germany. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid of the Church. She received her education in Germany. In October of 1921, she came to the United States to the Sutherland area.

On December 18, 1923, she was united in marriage to John Karstens in rural Paullina. After their marriage, the couple farmed outside of Paullina for many years.

John preceded her in death on May 14, 1958 in Paullina. On March 12,1959, she was united in marriage to Thomas Clausen in Calumet. After their marriage, the couple resided in Paullina.

Elisabeth passed away on Monday, February 15, 1988, at the Baum-Harmon Hospital in Primghar, reaching the age of 87 years and 18 days.

Elisabeth leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Thomas of Paullina; two daughters: Bessie and husband, Melburn Carlson of Paullina and Alice and husband, Kenneth Straub of Paullina; one step-daughter, Mrs. Bernice Wittier of Spirit Lake, Iowa; one step-son, Clarence Bandholz of Sutherland; also 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; also a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents and four sisters.
