Allyn E. Jones

Funeral services for Allyn E. Jones were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 7, 1992, at the First Presbyterian Church in Paullina, Iowa, with Rev. Reuben Tjaden officiating. The honorary pallbearers were Vernon Bjork, Leonard Wikstrom, Lynford Pauling, Glen Berntson, Weber Clayton and Clarence Peters. The pallbearers were Rick Wei-daman, Gene Wallin, Steve Lemke, Ed Brown, Dan Struve, Jr., Lyle Wallin, Howard Craig and Burdette Rohde. Interment was at Prairie View Cemetery in Paullina, Iowa, under the care of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home of Paullina.

OBITUARY

Allyn E. Jones, the son of William and Elizabeth Sass Jones, was born on May 14, 1912, in Washta, Iowa. He moved to the Paullina area as a small child with his parents and attended rural schools and Paullina High School.

On January 27, 1933, he was united in marriage to Vivien A. Halstrom in Dakota City, Nebraska. After their marriage, they farmed near Larrabee, Iowa, and later moved south of Paullina. In 1955, they moved to Colorado where Allyn worked for a construction firm and operated bowling alleys. They returned to Paullina in 1982 and have made this their home since that time. Allyn was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Paullina Golf Club. His hobbies included artistic works in painting and wood carving, fishing, golfing and bowling.

Allyn passed away on Friday, December 4, 1992, reaching the age of 80 years, 6 months and 20 days. Allyn leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Vivien of Paullina; two daughters and son-in-laws: Barbara and LeRoy Erickson of Eloy, Arizona and Anita and Larry Alexander of Brighton, Colorado; one brother, Marlin of Primghar; one sister: Eva Moats of Omaha, Nebraska; five grandchildren: Cinda Fischer, Allyn and Greg Koehlmoos and Tim and Scott Reeves and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dan; and one sister, Ruby.
