Albert August Ahrens, the son of Henry and Dora Jalas Ahrens, was born March 17, 1902 at Sutherland, Iowa. He attended schools in O'Brien County and later at Harris, Iowa.

On January 25, 1928, he was united in marriage to Cecil Berger at Humboldt, Iowa. After their marriage, the couple, settled five miles north of Sutherland , Iowa, where they engaged in farming until 1949 when they moved to a farm in the Granville, Iowa, area. They resided there until their retirement in 1971, when they moved into Paullina.

Albert passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 1984, at his residence reaching ,the age of 82 years, 9 months and 8 days.

Albert is survived by his wife Cecil of Paullina; one son, Burdette of Paullina; and one daughter, Darlene Spears of Storm Lake; two granddaughters, Lori Francis and Alea Spears, and one grandson, Kenneth Ahrens; four great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Brookee, Rebecca and Kari; also one brother, Ralph Ahrens of Hartley; and three sisters, Mrs. Leona Riedemann of Paullina, Mrs. Amanda Stoffel of Spirit Lake and Mrs. Velma Hansen of Waterloo; also a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Alvin and Frank; and two sisters, Evelyn and Lula.
