Wilkinson Rites Held at Cherokee: Funeral services for Mrs. Mayme Wilkinson, who passed away Sunday morning at about 2 30 o'clock at the home of her daughter Mrs. Russell Dunn, at Paullina were held Tuesday afternoon at the Boothby funeral home in Cherokee. The Rev John Bloomquist, pastor of the Presbyterian church at Alta, officiated. Rev. Bloomquist was formerly pastor at Cleghorn when Mrs. Wilkinson was a resident there. Mrs. L. L. Patton of Cleghorn sang, "In the Garden," and "Will There Be Any Stars In My Crown." Interment was made at Meriden.

Obituary

Mayme Elizabeth Newhouse, daughter of William and Elizabeth Newhouse, was born in Clinton county, near Calamus, on March 23, 1869, and departed this life at the home of her daughter Mrs. Nellie Dunn, near Paullina, on Sunday, January 14, 1940 at the age of 70 years, 9 months and 21 days. She became bedfast last May 28th and during her long illness everything that loving hands and medical aid could do was done but she grew weaker until her death.

In 1888 she was united in marriage to Marvin Snyder of Grand Mound. To this union were born five children, Fonda Turner of Cherokee, Clifford Snyder of Storm Lake, Floyd Snyder of Strawberry Point, Frankie who passed away in infancy and, Nellie Dunn of Paullina. Mrs. Snyder was a talented musician and taught music for several years until her hearing became impaired.

Wedded at Cleghorn. In 1902 she was united in marriage to John Wilkinson of Cleghorn. To this happy union two children were born, Ferrell Wilkinson of Storm Lake and Phylis Parker of Cherokee. Mr. Wilkinson preceded her in death in October, 1907.

Mrs. Wilkinson united with the Christian church of Cleghorn of which she remained a member until her death. The deceased is survived by six children, nine grandchildren, and one great grandchild, two brothers, William and John Newhouse and one sister, Jessie Irvin all of Clinton, as well as a host of friends. She was especially fond of children and dearly loved her grandchildren.
