Elizabeth O. Jones
1878-1945

Elizabeth O. Jones, the daughter of William and Carolina Sass, was born on April 5, 1887, in Johnson County, near Iowa City, Iowa. At the time of her death on December 30, 1945, she was of age 67 years, 8 months and 25 days.

She lived near Iowa City until the time of her marriage to William H. Jones on February 20, 1907. She and her husband then moved to a farm near Washta, in Cherokee county, which they made their home until 1915. In that year they moved to the farm south of Paullina, where they resided until 1939 when they moved to their present home in Paullina.

Her husband, William, passed away in September, 1940. Other members of her family who preceded her in death, besides her parents, were two sisters and one brother.

Five children were born to her and her husband, all of whom survive her: Marlin R. Jones of Primghar; Daniel W. of Paullina; Eva, Mrs. Leslie Moats of Primghar, Ia.; Allyn E. of Cherokee; Ruby, Mrs. Carl Wallin of Paullina.

In addition to her children, she leaves ten grandchildren, on sister, Miss Reka Sass, and one brother, William Sass, both of Iowa City. Many neighbors and friends from the country community where they resided and from the Paullina neighborhood near their home share with the family in the bereavement.

Elizabeth Jones was received into membership in the Presbyterian Church of Paullina June 5, 1920, and continued a faithful member and a worker as long as her health would permit. She was an active member of the Ladies' Aid Society and the Missionary Society. She was a person who always thought of others before herself, and even during the several years of her failing health was determined to care for herself in her own home.
