ERNST RICHTER DIES FRIDAY -- IS BURIED AT GERMANTOWN

Was over 75 Years of Age, Lived in this Vicinity Almost Entire Life, Wife Survives Him.

Ernst Richter, 75, a resident in or near Paullina since he was a boy of 9, passed away at this home here Friday evening after a prolonged illness. He had been in poor health for several years.

Mr. Richter, born at Cooper's Grove, Illinois, came with his parents to a farm just east of Germantown. He was married in December, 1898 to Gertrude Linnekugal. They made their home on the Richter place, making a total of 56 years that Mr. Richter lived there before the family moved to Paullina in 1937.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the home at 1:45 and at the Zion Lutheran church at 2 o'clock with burial at Germantown cemetery. Rev. Martin Peters was in charge of the services.

Six grandsons served as pall bearers. They were Edmund Straub, Jr., Kenneth Straub, Burnell Straub, Donald Richter, Leslie Richter, and Donald Carnahan.

Obituary

Ernst Richter, son of Henry R. Richter and his wife, Sophia, nee Braunmueller [sic], was born December 9, 1871 at Cooper's Grove, Illinois. When 9 years old, he came with his parents, to this community whre the Richter family acquired a farm in Caledonia Township. He was received into communicant membership with St. John Evangelical church by the rite of confirmation administered by Pastor E. Zuerrer.

He was married December 25, 1898 to Gertrude Linnekugal. Seven children were born to them, four of whom preceded him in death.

Mr. Richter served as an elder of St. John church for nine years. In 1937 they moved to Paullina. His health had been very poor the past several years. After a long illness he passed away Friday evening, February 21, at the age of 75 years, two months and 12 days.

He leaves to mourn his parting: His wife and one son, Walter, of Paullina, two daughters, Mrs. Truman Kruse of Granville and Mrs. Mabel Daniels of Sheldon, a brother, Philip of Germantown; and 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
