Services Wednesday for Maxine McClaren

Maxine McClaren, 75, of Cherokee,
Iowa, passed away unexpectedly
Saturday, July 21 at 9 45 p m. in the
Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City,
Iowa.

Funeral services will be held
Wednesday, July 25 at 10 30 a.m
from the Boothby Funeral Home in
Cherokee. Pastor Larry Nilson will
officiate and burial will be in the Oak
Hill Cemetery at Cherokee.

There will be a family prayer service
at 10:15 a.m at the funeral home on
Wednesday Visitation will be on
Tuesday from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m.
with the family present in the evening
from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the
Boothby Funeral Home.

She was born on April 28, 1926
in Chula, Missouri to Robert "Lee"
and Neva (Trumbo) Billings. She
graduated from high school in Missouri.

She was married to Basil H. McClaren
on May 24, 1942 at Palmyra,
Missouri. She had been a resident
of Cherokee since 1948.

She had worked at the Sioux Valley
Memorial Hospital as a ward clerk for
33 years, retiring in 1995. She was a
member of First Baptist Church and
was very active in other church activities
She was a member of the
V.F.W Ladies Auxiliary and also
did volunteer work.

She was preceded in death by her
parents, her husband Basil on July
17, 1980, two sons. Rick on February
18, 1972 and James on August 25,
1989, two brothers, Ernest and
Ronald Billings.

She is survived by seven children
and their spouses- Neva and Rick
Nolan of Marco Island, Florida; Bob
and Pam McClaren of Virginia
Beach, Virginia; Linda and Don
Terrell of Erie, Colorado, Gary and
Linda McClaren of Sutherland. Iowa;
Don and Mary McClaren of
Evansdale, Iowa, Mike McClaren of
Sutherland, Iowa, Dick McClaren of
Cherokee, 17 grandchildren, 15 great
grandchildren, two sisters. Mane
Branaugh of Struble, Iowa; Grace
and Walt Branaugh of Stover, Missouri,
several nieces and nephews,
many friends including a very special
friend, Ann Rader of Paullina, Iowa.
