Services held for Obera P. Schiltz Funeral services for Obera P. Schiltz were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 20, 1995, at the First Presbyterian Church in Paullina, Iowa, with Rev. Donald Freeman officiating. Obera Schiltz passed away Wednesday, March 15, 1995, reaching the age of 75 years, 3 months and 6 days. Music for the service was Largo of the Symphony "From the New World," Op. 95 by Anton Dvorak, Lee Thorson, cellist; "God Will Take Care Of You," "For All the Saints," and "Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee," sung by the congregation with Kay Grosvenor serving as the organist. Arrangements were under the care of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.

OBITUARY

Obera June Parke Schiltz was bom in Sigourney, Iowa, on December 9, 1919 - the third,child of her parents, Harry Martin Parke and Lucille Beinke Parke. On August 30, 1938, she married Dr. Jon Antrim Schiltz, while he was a student at the University of Iowa, enrolled in the College of Dentistry. Dr. Jon and Obera came to Paullina, Iowa, after her husband fulfilled his military obligation.

Obera was an active member in the Presbyterian Church, and she held various offices in United Presbyterian Women. She was also a past member of the Sioux City Symphony and until her death, a member of the Cherokee Symphony Orchestra. Obera has been a member of the James McElwee Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution for the past 48 years; a 39-year member of Chapter FX P.E.O.; and a 45-year active member and supporter of Paullina's fine Music Club.

Her interests and joys have included music, her family, hosting three international students and her many, many friends.

Obera died March 15, 1995, when her heart suddenly stopped beating. Obera is survived by her husband, Dr. Jon A. Schiltz; a sister, Ethel Loos of Sanborn, Iowa; and a brother, Lowell Parke of Chicago, Illinois. She is also survived by four children and their families: Suellen Winter and her husband, Richard of Fenton, Michigan; Jon Parke Schiltz and wife, Dianne of Ft. Collins, Colorado; Rev. Karl Schiltz and wife, Rev. Dr. Carol Galley of Titonka, Iowa; and Karalee Bernath and husband, Stephen Bernath of East Olympia, Washington. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; and one great-grand child.

Obera was preceded in death by her parents.
