Funeral services were held Friday, May 8,1992 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sutherland for Frances Gray. Father Anthony Pick officiated. Rosary services were held Thursday evening, May 7, at 8 p.m. at the Baumgarten Funeral Home in Sutherland. Casket bearers included Dan Menke, Mike Mathern, Reitzel Wright, Donald Shea, Joe Sweeney, & Arlo Mugge. Committal services were held at Calvary Cemetery, Primghar, Iowa, under the direction of Baumgarten Funeral Home.

OBITUARY

Frances C. Gray, the daughter of Henry Joseph and Mary Katharina Schueller Halbach, was born May 10, 1902 at Primghar, Iowa. After graduating from Primghar High School she attended the University of Iowa.

She was united in marriage to Thomas Gray in January of 1925 and they made their home at Calumet where he was a barber. Frances taught school at Calumet from 1941 to 1959, when her husband, Thomas passed away. After his death she moved to Homewood, Illinois to live with her daughter, Mary.

She taught school at Springfield Midlothian Grade School from 1960 until retiring in 1965. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Homewood and had been a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sutherland where she was the church organist for many years.

She passed away at Harvey, IL on May 4, 1992 at the age of 89. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, seven brothers, Joseph, Albert, Frank, Edward, Lawrence, Clarence and Raymond, and one sister, Louise Shea.

Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters. Dr. Mary Gray, and Marion and her husband John Henneberry, all of Homewood, one grandson and his wife, Thomas and Patti Henneberry of Naperville, IL, and one brother, Alvin Halbach of Spirit Lake, Iowa, as well as other relatives and friends.
