1839 -Mrs. Elisabeth Karekel—l927

Elisabeth [sic] Ann Cook was born at
Conway, New Hampshire, August 23.
1839, and died at the home of her
daughter, Mrs. Hattle Lang, in Grant
Twp., June 1st, 1927, at the age of 87
years, 0 months and 9 days.

On April 6th, 1856, she was united
in marriage to Michael [sic]Karekel, who
preceded her in death some years ago.

To this union nine children were born,
all of whom have gone before except
one daughter,[Hattie Karekel Lange]
at whose home she has resided for tbe
last eight years.

In 1862, she and her husband, with
their two children, removed from Boston,
Mass., to Waterloo, Iowa. After
eighteen years residence there they
came, in the fall of 1881, to the home
farm near Gaza, where they resided
until the death of Mr. Karekel in 1915.

She was of a kind and loving disposition,
and thought no sacrifice too
great for her loved ones and her
church. In her early life she became
a member of tbe Presbyterian church
at Waterloo, Iowa. Later she joined
the Congregational church at Covey,
and later became a member of tbe
Congregational church at Gaza.

She leaves to mourn her loss, one
daughter, nine grand children and five
great grandchildren, besides numerous
other relatives and friends.

Funeral service was held at the
Covey church at 3:00 o'clock last Friday
afternoon, conducted by Rev.
Welch of Hartley. Interment was
made in Highland Twp. cemetery.
