1874-MRS. HATTIE LANGE-1954

Mrs. Hattie Lange, nee Hattie
Karekel, was born February 28,
1874, at Waterloo, Iowa. She was
the daughter of Michael [sic]and
Elizabeth Cook Karekel. She
passed away on March 16, 1954,
at her home in Sutherland, Iowa,
having reached the age of
80 yeats and 16 days.

Her early childhood was spent
at Waterloo, and she came with
her parents to O'Brien County at
the age of 7. She attended the
Highland Township schools.

On Sept. 1, 1903, s h e was
united in marriage to William H.
Lange, the ceremony taking
place at her home in Highland
Township. She was the mother
of five children, two of whom
preceded her in death: Orris,
who died in infancy, and Earl,
in 1949. Her husband passed
away in 1940. Also preceding her
in death was one grandson, Eugene
Chesley, who passed away
in 1943.

Survivors include three children,
Harold and Herbert Lange,
both of Sutherland, and Mrs. Alta
Chesley of Spencer; a stepson,
Ernest Lange of Portland,
Ore., and a stepdaughter, Elvina
Coffee, of Worthington, Minn.;
12 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren;
as well as other relatives.
