Kevin Joseph Swanson, the son of Jim and Bernitta Bruns Hartnett, was born on February 9, 1974 in East Liverpool, OH. On October 8, 1990, Kevin was adopted and became the son of David and Patricia Spangler Swanson.

Kevin graduated in May of 1993 from Sioux Central High School in Sioux Rapids, IA. He then attended Southwestern Technical School in Jackson, MN in Auto Body Repair. He worked at Ag-Chem in Jackson, MN, Polaris in Spirit Lake, IA, Vugteveen Lawn Services in Milford, IA, Kaneb Pipeline Service, Milford, IA, Exhaust Pros in Spencer, IA, and was presently employed at PM Hartley in Hartley, IA.

Kevin passed away at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on March 14, 2000 at the age of 26. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bernitta Hartnett; grandfathers: Melvin Swanson, Leslie Spangler and Steve Hartnett; grandmother, Mary Ann Hartnett.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents, David and Patricia Swanson of Peterson, IA and Jim Hartnett of Eugene, OR; seven brothers: [redacted]; nephews: [redacted]; his grandmothers: Marie Swanson of Lakefield, MN, Joan Spangler of Jackson, MN and Ralph and Betty Bruns of Amelia, IA; Kevin's special friends: Tracy Musser of Spencer, IA-. and Jerry 'Jay' McGee of Omaha, NE; many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Kevin Joseph Swanson, were held Friday, March 17, 2000 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sutherland, IA. Father John Caine officiated. Casket Bearers were: Dave Swanson, Dan Swanson, Tim Swanson, Jamie Swanson, Dan Hartnett, Matt Hartnett, and Jason Hartnett.

Interment was at Liberty Township Cemetery, Calumet, IA.

Arrangements were by Warner Funeral Home, Peterson, IA.
