Brandon, SD ~ Judy Ann Verdoorn, 70, died on Friday, June 15, 2012 at Avera Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at George Boom Funeral Home in Sioux Falls with a 2:00 PM graveside service at the Gilman Township Cemetery in Ashton, IA. Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM on Monday at the funeral home with the family present to greet friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Judy Ann Sanem was born at home in Sheldon, Iowa on September 15, 1941. She received her education in Sheldon. She was united in marriage with Joe Zylstra, from this union the couple were blessed with two children. She was then united in marriage with Victor Whipkey, from this union the couple were also blessed with two children. She was then united in marriage with Reno Vadillo and the couple were blessed with one son. In 1971 she was united in marriage with the love of her life, John "Jack" Verdoorn. The couple made their home in Brandon, SD.

Judy enjoyed camping and wintering in Texas. She also enjoyed reading novels and fishing. Above all she loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt cousin and friend who will be dearly missed.

Grateful for having share her life are her husband of 41 years, Jack Verdoorn; her four children, Joe Zylstra, Florence, AZ, Shawn (Chris) Busch, Boone, IA, Scott Nelson, Winterset, IA and Reno (Kelly Decker) Vadillo, Albuquerque, NM; four step-children, Randall (Lisa) Verdoorn, Viborg, SD, Jeff (fiancé Candace Highley) Verdoorn, Viborg, SD, Jim Verdoorn, Sioux Falls, and Kelly Happeny, Irene, SD; sister, Shirley Warnke, Sheldon, IA; brother-in-law, Doug Seivert, Sheldon, IA; twelve grandchildren; two nieces and three nephews; and her loving teacup poodle, Penny.

She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Kirsten Nelson; and one sister, Darlene Seivert.
