Nellie Kroese, daughter of Isaac and Elsie Kroese, was born in Grand Rapids, Mich. on Aug. 28, 1902. She lived in Grand Rapids until the age of seven years and then moved to Archer, IA., where they lived for two years until moving to Sanborn, IA. She attended rural school in Archer and Sanborn, IA.
She was united in marriage to Henry Van Veldhuizen of Sanborn on March 6, 1930 at her parents’ home. After their marriage they farmed in the Sanborn vicinity until moving into the town of Sanborn in 1966 where she lived until the time of her death at her home on Dec. 30, 1971 at the age of 69 years, 4 months and 2 days.
She is survived by her husband, Henry, of Sanborn; two daughters, Esther (Mrs. Robert Zommefeld) and Marilynn(Mrs. Dale DeBoer) both of Sibley, IA,; two sons, Henry Gene and Ivan, both of Sanborn; eleven grandchildren; two brothers; Tim Kroese and Peter Kroese, both of Sanborn; three sisters: Mrs. Martha Elgersma of Sanborn, Mrs. Jessie Hofman of Sanborn and Dora(Mrs. Dick Van Beek) of Rock Valley, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, John and Andrew Kroese.
She was a member of the First Reformed Church of Sanborn, IA. And the Guild for Christian Service of the First Reformed Church.
