SHELDON—Dorothy June Bosma, 85, Sheldon, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, at Beehive Homes of Sheldon.
Services were Monday, Sept 28, at Sanborn Christian Reformed Church, with the Rev. Greg Dyk officiating. Burial was at Roseland Cemetery in Sanborn, under the direction of Sanborn Funeral Home. Dorothy Bosma, daughter of Ben and Cornelia (Bonnes) Hofman, was born June 9, 1924, on a farm near Sanborn. She spent her childhood years in Sanborn and attended Sanborn Christian School. She married Marvin Bosma on Dec. 18,1941. They lived and farmed in the Sheldon and Sanborn areas for 25 years. Upon retirement from farming in December 1966, they moved to Sheldon. They moved into the Sheldon Christian Retirement Home in November 2002. Mr. Bosma died Oct. 3, 2005. Shortly before her death, she moved to Beehive Homes of Sheldon. In addition to taking care of her home and family, she had at one time been employed at Sheridan’s 5 & 10 in Sanborn. After moving to Sheldon, she worked as manager of the drug department at Hy-Vee Food Store for many years. She was an active member of Sanborn Christian Reformed Church and attended many Bible studies. She enjoyed traveling and collecting seashells. She made dolls, tatted and crocheted doilies, as well as baby blankets, booties and sweaters. She loved playing games, especially her own version of Black Rook.Survivors include three children, Bonnie and Gary Kreykes of Sanborn, Dennis and Cindy Bosma of Sheldon, and Pat and Jon Sybesma of Sanborn; 10 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; a brother, Dick and Polly Hofman of Sanborn; and a sister-in-law, Lucifie Hofman of Sanbom.She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Bosma; a granddaughter, Lisa Kreykes; five sisters; and a brother.Source: Sanborn Funeral Home obit.
