SHELDON Velma Dorothy Miers, 98, Sheldon, died Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Sanford Senior Care Sheldon.Services were Thursday, Oct. 1, at Andringa Funeral Home in Sheldon, with the Rev. Dale Lint officiating.Burial was at Grand Junction Cemetery.Velma Miers, daughter of Wilham and Emma (Marks) Miers, was born Aug. 28, 1911, in Perry She grew up and received her education in Mountain Lake, MN, She lived in many areas in her lifetime, including Mountain Lake, Spencer, where she worked uptown in a department store for many years, Ashton, Bentonville, AR, and Noel, MO. She and her father moved to Ashton in 1961 and lived with her sister for 26 years. After the death of her sister, she moved to the Christian Retirement Home in Sheldon, where she lived for 19 years, and Bee Hive Homes of Sheldon for almost two years. The remainder of her life was spent at Sanford Senior Care Sheldon.She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Ashton. She will be remembered as a hard worket She enjoyed playing cards, games, reading, and she loved going to Harlingen, TX, a short time each winter to visit her sister.Survivors include two nieces, Marie Pomrenke and Marjorie Kannegieter; and several great-nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by two sisters, Sylvia Kannegieter and Violet Bomgaars.Velma MiersSource: Andringa Funeral Home obit.
