Matthew Donald Pruin, the son of Vern and Kathryn (Dilger) Pruin, was born November 17, 1979 in Sheldon, Iowa. He was baptized at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Waverly, Iowa and later confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheldon. He attended school in Sheldon and graduated from Sheldon High School in 1998, he went on to graduate from the University of Iowa in Iowa City in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. After graduation, Matt lived in Huntington Beach, California where he worked for Qwest Software and was later transferred to Gaithersburg, Maryland. After a few years, he moved to Chicago, Illinois where he worked at Managers Investment Group. In August of 2008, Matt moved to Naperville, Illinois and began working for Calamos Investments. Matt enjoyed his job there where he was surrounded by many wonderful co-workers who became friends. Matt passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center in Sheldon, after a courageous battle with brain cancer, reaching the age of 30 years, 8 months and 10 days.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Sheldon. Matt was an avid Hawkeye fan and enjoyed tailgating with his many friends. He loved all sports! He loved playing golf, snowboarding, softball and poker. He liked going to the Cubs games and was a Vikings and Twins fan.
Matt is survived by his parents, Vern and Kathy Pruin of Sheldon; two brothers, Michael and his wife, Manna Pruin of Aliso Viejo, California; Mark and his wife, Amber Pruin of Spirit Lake, Iowa and a sister, Kimberly and her husband, Kirk Sneiderman of Tipton, IA; Matt’s dog, Sophi; aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Donald and Gertrude Dilger and Herman and Tillie Pruin.
Matt was known for his great sense of humor, which he kept throughout his illness. Matt had many great friends from coast to coast, and Matt was a great friend.
