Services Held for Jacob R. Shinkle, Former Resident

Funeral services were held for Jacob R. Shinkle, 88, at Wee Kirk o the Heather, Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale, Calif., Oct. 31 at 12:30 p.m. Services were conducted by Rev. Marvin A Johnson with interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Mr. Shinkle died at his home in El Monte, Calif., on Oct. 29 after a lingering illness.
Jacob R. Shinkle, eleventh child of the twelve children to Jacob and Phoebe Shinkle, was born Nobember 15, 1879 at State Center, Iowa.
When he was one year old, they moved to a homestead near Sutherland, and later to a farm between Primghar and Hartley. He received his education in the local schools.
After the death of his father, Jacob moved with his mother and youngest sister Grace to Primghar.
In 1910 he was united in marriage to Stella Wood. In 1917 Mr. Shinkle, his wife and two children, Jacob and Adelia, moved to Canada where they resided for 6 ½ years, after which they moved to California, settling in the San Fernando Valley.
Mrs. Shinkle died in March, 1933.
On Oct. 14, 1945 Mr. Shinkle married Bessie Ray Shearer.
They lived in South Gate for three years before moving to El Monte.
Mr. Shinkle is survived by his wife, son Jacob; daughter Adelia; a step-daughter June Shearer Davis; a step-son D. Howard Shearer; four grand children, numerous relatives and friends.
