Watkins

WATKINS

William Watkins, b. 1811, wife Elizabeth and son, Jay Greenbury Watkins, arrived in Muscatine in 1844. William died in 1854 and Elizabeth then married Jacob Schumacher. William established Watkins Cemetery in Pike Township. I recently walked the cemetery and found it interesting that, even though the cemetery is named for him, he is not buried there.
Also settling in the county, West Liberty area, was Ezra D. Watkins, b. 1812. Ezra is buried in Oakridge. Ezra's son, Dallas, died in the Civil War and is buried in Oakridge, but has a monument in Watkins Cemetery.
I can find no connection between William and Ezra, but it would appear there is one. Any idea where William is buried and any info on his family would be greatly appreciated.
