Funeral services for Cloyce H. Downer, 87, a native of Cedar county, were held at the United Methodist church, West Liberty, April 15 with the Rev. Donald Thompson officiating. Burial was in Muscatine Memorial park. Mr. Downer died at Muscatine General hospital April 12.

The son of Louis E. and Emma Beik Downer, he was born in Cedar county Dec. 2, 1901. He attended country schools and graduated from Letts high school and Cornell college. He married Mary E. Raub at the Sweetland United Methodist church Aug. 4, 1932.

Mr. Downer was a lifelong farmer in the Letts and West Liberty areas, moving to West Liberty in 1974.

He was a member of the West Liberty United Methodist church and the Rotary club, where he was a Paul Harris Fellow.

He is survived by his wife, living in the Lutheran home, Muscatine and a son, Dayle, Ames. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters.
