Last rites for George Harmon Jr., 62, Muscatine, father of Dennis Harmon, Tipton, were held at Muscatine March 7 with the Rev. David Hotelling officiating. Burial was in Greenwood cemetery, Muscatine.

Mr. Harmon died at his home in Muscatine March 3.

The son of George E. and Nattie P. Coulter Harmon Sr., he was born in Muscatine Oct. 9, 1925. He was first married to Dorothy Oldham at Muscatine Oct. 15, 1944. He was married to Wilma Wellons at Muscatine July 8, 1969.

Mr. Harmon was an employee of the US Postal service for 32 years, retiring Jan. 2, 1988. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II and attended the Hillcrest Baptist church.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma; 2 sons, David E., Muscatine and Dennis M., Tipton; a stepson, Scott A. MacGregor, Muscatine; a daughter, Mrs. James (Janice R.) Lane, Muscatine; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Gary (Karen) Diercks, Muscatine; 9 grandchildren; a great-grandson; his parents, Muscatine; 2 brothers, Dale, Muscatine and Donald, Weches, Ore.

He was preceded in death by his first wife.
