Last rites for Charles J. Overton Sr., 51, were held at Muscatine Jan. 19 with the Rev. Gary Howe of the Four Square church officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park cemetery. Mr. Overton died at Muscatine General hospital Jan. 17.

The son of Charles George and Veda Lenor Bellew Overton, he was born at Princeton, Mo. March 12, 1933. He was married to Ruth Ann Curry in Muscatine in 1960. He had been a resident of Muscatine for 28 years.

He is survived by his wife; 4 sons, Charles J. Jr., Tipton; Richard, Durant; Roger, Florida and Morrill, Muscatine; 4 daughters, Mrs. Steve (Glenda) Kraklio, Durant and Mrs. Charles (Tammy) Calvert, Mrs. Jeff (Helen) Van Auken and Paula Overton, all of Muscatine; 11 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Richard, Oregon and William, Princeton, Mo.; and 4 sisters, Mrs. Phynetta Woodward, Princeton, Mo., Mrs. Winnie (Lillian) Picket, Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Junior (Martha) Owens, Missouri and Mrs. Welton (Marilyn) McCulley, Muscatine.

Mr. Overton was preceded in death by a son and 2 brothers.
