Phyllis L. Wagoner, 78, of Hershey Manor, 1810 Mulberry Ave, Muscatine, died early today, Monday, Dec. 24, 1990, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City after a brief illness.

Services will be Friday morning at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Walter Helms officiating. Organist will be Beverly Weber. Pallbearers will be Eugene Logel, Michael Logel, Jefferey Bishop, Craig Mar, Stven Mar and Eric Genung. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening and Thursday afternoon and evening at the Riley Funeral Home. A vigil service will be held Thursday at 8 p.m.

She was born on Oct. 12, 1912, in Mercer County, ill., the daughter of James and Ella Beard Welch. She has been a resident of the city of Muscatine since 1942.

The former Phyllis Leota Welch married Everett Paul Wagoner on Nov. 21, 1931, at Milan, Ill. she was a member of St. Mary's Church and Catholic Daughters of America.

For more than 11 years she was the housekeeper at St. Mary's rectory, prior to 1981.

She is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Pete (Coletta) Logel, Donna Marx, and Mrs. Robert (Barbara) Bishop, all of Muscatine. there are 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren surviving.

Also surviving are two brothers: Ronald Welch, of Moline, ill., Bernard Welch, of Orion, Ill. and two sisters: Mrs. Russell (Wilma) Krantz, of Milan; and Maxine Whitehall, of Joy, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 19, 1968, and one sister.
