Mrs. Mary Welk Funeral Services Slated Saturday
Services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Saturday at St Mary’s church for Mrs. Mary A. Welk, 85, resident of Muscatine for 75 years, who died at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday at the Hershey Convalescent home. The body is at the Geo. M. Wittich Funeral home, where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Friday. Burial will be at Greenwood cemetery.

Mrs. Welk was born Aug. 31, 1872, in Germany, the daughter of John and Christine Wingerter Ritter. She was married to William C. Welk in 1891 at Muscatine. She was a member of St. Mary’s church.

Survivors include three sons, Edward R., Eugene F. and Fred R. Welk, all of Muscatine; two daughters, Mrs. Laura Nicklas and Mrs. Carl Freeman, Muscatine; four brothers, Fred, George, John and Robert Ritter, and four sisters Mrs. Phoebe Withers, Mrs. David Rothschild, Mrs. Fred Scharfenberg and Mrs. Charles Roth, all in California; 12 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one son and several brothers and sisters.
