Mrs. Weiss, 77, Atalissa, Dies at Country Home
West Liberty - - Mrs. Philip Weiss, 77, died Sunday at 5:15 p.m. in her home, two and a half miles southwest of Atalissa, where she had resided for 42 years.

Rosena D. Kaufman was born in Cedar county, near Wilton, Jan. 3, 1861, the daughter of Andrew and Rosena Kaufmann. She was educated in the Sugar township schools, and resided in that community until her marriage on Feb. 19, 1885, at the home of her parents to Philip Weiss.

Following their marriage, the couple lived in the neighborhood of Lone Tree and Nichols, moving to the home near Atalissa 42 years ago. Mrs. Weiss was a member of the Zion Lutheran church in Atlissa and of the Ladies Aid.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Lydia Marten Los Angeles, Calif. and Mrs. Lena Marlof, Moscow; three sons George, Albert and Walter, all of Atalissa; a brother, John F of Hazelton, Ia.; and two sisters, Mrs. James Klein of Portland, Ore., and Mrs. Sarah E. Furst of Detroit, Mich.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Zion Lutheran church, Atalissa, with the Rev. A.C. Proehl of Iowa Cit officiating. Burial will be in the Atalissa cemetery.
