20 August 1981 - The Tipton Conservative

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15 for C. R. (Zook) Paisley, 83, of West Liberty. The Rev. Frank Greenwood officiated at the West Liberty United Methodist church. Burial was in the Columbus City cemetery. Masonic services were held Aug. 14.

Mr. Paisley died Aug. 11 at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty following a long illness.

Born Feb. 3, 1897 in Louisa county, he was the son of Frank M. and Catherine Marshall Paisley. He married Gladys Gordon Aug. 26, 1922 in Winfield. He attended schools in Winfield and owned grocery stores in Wyman, Iowa and Kahoka, Mo., before moving to West Liberty in 1956. He was co-owner of the Bargain Corner grocery store in West Liberty until his retirement in 1969.

Mr. Paisley was a member of the West Liberty United Methodist church, the Kaaba Temple in Davenport and a 50 year member of both the Masonic Lodge and American Legion.

Survivors include his wife; a brother, Paul of Winfield; 3 sisters, Mrs. John (Bertha) Alvine of Winfield, Mrs. George (Bernadine) Hazlett of Muscatine and Mrs. Robert (Louise) Holmes of Washington.

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and a sister.
