Funeral services for Joseph Richard Thompson, 81, Moscow, were held at the Gill-Lacock Funeral Home, Wilton Jan. 3 with the Rev. Paul Pennington officiating. Burial was in Oakdale cemetery, Wilton. Pallbearers were Robert and Donald Thompson, Pat and Jeff White, Steve Scorpil, Tom Boorn and J. J. DeSoliar. Mrs. Robert Thompson was organist.

Mr. Thompson died at Muscatine General hospital Dec. 31.

The son of William and Elizabeth Herschman Thompson, he was born in Muscatine county Feb. 6, 1899. He was married to Lela Gauger in Muscatine July 25, 1923. After her death he was married to Mabel Kennersely in Wilton Jan. 1, 1955.

He was a retired farmer and mechanic.

Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, 3 sons, George, Muscatine; Joseph Leland, Letts and William, Grandview; 6 daughters, Mrs. Dale (Frances) Thumma, Tipton; Mrs. Harold (Florence) Wells, Mrs. Ron (Pat) Dickey and Bonnie White, Muscatine; Mrs. Joe (Mary) DeSoilar, Beardstown, Ill. and Mrs. Bud (Betty) White, Wilton; 38 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 7 step-children.
