Funeral services for Maruice J. Safley, 73, Muscatine, were held in Muscatine May 9 with Dr. Wesley Snodgrass officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park cemetery, Muscatine.

Mr. Safley died at University hospitals, Iowa City, May 6.

The son of James A. and Margaret Phelps Safley, he was born in Tipton July 6, 1905 and was married to Henrietta McDonald in Tipton May 15, 1929. He spent most of his adult life in the Muscatine community and had been employed as an insurance agent for National Travelers Life of Des Moines. He was a member of the Boat club.

Mr. Safley is survived by his wife; a son, Harold F. (Buzz) Safley, Muscatine; a daughter, Mrs. Lois Method, Silvis, Ill.; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and 3 sisters, Mrs. Henrietta Wilson, Solon; Mrs. Effie Milner, Des Moines and Louise Safley, Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by a brother and a son, Rowland (Rollie).
